Parent Survey
What do parents think about Tanga International School?
Tanga International School is a non-profit making trust that exists to serve the
needs of the parents who send their children to the school. It is important that
the school reflects the requirements of the community that it serves. A
questionnaire was recently distributed to parents to give an opportunity to
reflect and provide feedback on the performance of the school. 70% of the
questionnaires were returned. The results of the survey are as follows:
Curriculum
100% of parents agreed that the written curriculum at TIS is engaging and
challenging for their children. All parents agreed that students at TIS are
being taught important skills that other local schools do not.
100% of parents think that learning at TIS is fun and enjoyable and that
teachers are fair and approachable.
100% of parents agreed that the curriculum at TIS prepares children for good
quality secondary and further education and that the school offers the best
quality English Medium education in Tanga.
All parents agreed that the school offers a good range of after school
activities but 50% of parents thought that children should receive more
homework.
Fees
92% of parents felt that the fees at TIS were too expensive although the same
percentage of parents also agreed that the fees reflected the quality of
education that is provided. 25% of parents thought that fees should be raised so
that the school can continue to purchase quality equipment from overseas and
hire well-qualified teachers.
School Life
100% of parents felt that they received sufficient information about activities
and events taking place at school and agreed that their children enjoyed coming
to school. 100% of parents said that their child had not been bullied at school.
100% of parents said that they were generally very happy with the overall
quality of education offered by the school.
The questionnaire results and the comments made by parents will
be discussed at the next Board meeting and will help to form next year’s School
Improvement Plan.
